Frequently Asked Questions
What is ketamine therapy and how does it work?
Medically supervised treatment that uses low-dose IV ketamine infusions to rapidly reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, and chronic pain. Unlike traditional antidepressants that target serotonin, ketamine works on the glutamate system — activating new neural pathways and restoring healthy brain function. Many patients notice meaningful improvement within 24–72 hours of their first session. At Ketamine Wellness NYC, all infusions are administered by a board-certified physician and monitored by a registered nurse at our Queens and Long Island clinic locations.
Who is a good candidate for ketamine therapy?
Ketamine therapy is most effective for individuals who have tried conventional treatments — such as antidepressants, therapy, or pain medications — without adequate relief. Ideal candidates include people living with treatment-resistant depression, generalized anxiety, panic disorders, PTSD, trauma, OCD, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, or addiction recovery support needs. During your initial consultation, our medical team will review your full medical history and mental health background to determine whether ketamine is right for you.
How much does ketamine therapy cost in NYC?
At Ketamine Wellness NYC, we believe effective mental health care should be accessible. Our pricing is transparent with no hidden fees:
- Introductory Session (new patients): $550
- Single IV Ketamine Infusion: $650
- Package of 6 IV Drips: $3,150 (recommended for sustained relief)
Most patients begin with the 6-infusion series, administered over approximately 3 weeks, to achieve the best long-term results. We serve patients at our Queens (Jackson Heights) and Long Island (Great Neck) locations.
What can I expect during a ketamine infusion session?
Your session at our Queens or Long Island clinic will take place in a private, comfortable room designed to feel calm and supportive — nothing like a typical clinical setting. You’ll receive an IV infusion lasting 60–90 minutes, supervised throughout by Brent Boen, BSN-RN, CEN, our on-site clinical supervisor. Most patients wear an eye mask and listen to therapeutic music to enhance the experience. After the session, you’ll have grounded time with our team before leaving. You’ll need a responsible adult to drive you home.
How many ketamine sessions will I need?
Most patients follow our evidence-based 6-infusion protocol, with two sessions per week over approximately three weeks. This is the most clinically studied approach for depression, anxiety, PTSD, and chronic pain, with up to 70% of treatment-resistant patients experiencing meaningful improvement. After the intensive phase, some patients benefit from periodic booster infusions to maintain results. We also offer optional integration therapy referrals to support long-term healing. Every treatment plan is personalized based on your symptoms and response.
